Mid-South Alumni Association
Of Kappa Kappa Psi & Tau Beta Sigma
Scholarship Guidelines
Introduction
The Mid-South Alumni Association is comprised of alumni members of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority. The purpose of the Mid-South Alumni Association is to extend the brotherhood and sisterhood of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma beyond the undergraduate experience; rather it be professional, social or networking. The members' locations are taken from the mid-south region of the country: Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana and Mississippi but the MSAA does not limit membership to only those areas. The MSAA also takes the time out to help local high school band students.
This scholarship is designed to financially assist qualified applicants by purchasing items not exceeding Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) towards any marching band expense such as but not limited to valve oil, reeds, gloves, boots, spats, music folders, mouthpieces, instruments and instrument parts, travel uniform and fees. This scholarship is open to any student who resides in the following states: Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana and Tennessee who is preparing to enter any accredited degree-granting college or university and plans on participating in the marching band. There will be one student selected from each state to receive this scholarship.

Instructions
- Scholarships are limited to use at an accredited degree granting institution of higher learning.
- Any candidate selected for an award will receive only one scholarship annually.
- Scholarships are paid directly to the candidate based on written acknowledgment that the scholarship award will be used for the intended purpose.
- Scholarships are open to any student entering or attending an accredited degree granting institution. Evidence of enrollment is required.
- Full-time and part-time studies are both eligible for consideration.
- Application deadline is May 1st each year; award recipient(s) will be notified in June. The scholarships will be awarded no later than August.
- Scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or state of physical handicap.
- Upon being selected for this scholarship all recipients must provide proof of graduation and proof that he/she has committed to a college band program before monies is released.
- This scholarship will only pay for band related items. Once candidates are chosen for this scholarship further instruction will be given.

- A completed Application Form found at http://msaa191946.weebly.com under the “scholarship” tab.
- An essays describing what the candidate has done to service his/her band and if not what will he/she do in the future to service one’s band. Also, include ways to service a band program and why he/she feels that he/she should receive this scholarship. Minimum 500 words maximum 700. Double spaced-12 font. Candidates may include pictures of him/her servicing the band.
- An updated picture of the applicant must be submitted with the application and essay.
Candidate Evaluation and Selection
- The MSAA will provide a Scholarship Evaluation and Selection Committee.
- All decisions of the MSAA its Scholarship Evaluation and Selection Committee are final.
- Descriptions of all scholarships will be published on the MSAA Website
- The name(s) of scholarship recipient(s) will be published on the MSAA website.
